Just pull towards the centerline of the car. Not back towards yourself. Two clips. One of mine broke, but it still stays in just fine, even with the weight of two gauges.

Here'* a pic of the clip. The idea is to remove the trim panel as described above and "try" to remove the clips afterwards.

They can come out but be delicate. Pry the clip outward while prying the middle section out. The notches that can be seen on the top is what holds the clip in.

Incendently, if you have trouble finding the paint, I have an extra can. It cost just under $10 so if you want it, add like $5 for shipping. Can aerosol paint cans be shipped?

when we were replacing thejmfc'* headliner, we came across those very clips. not a big deal at all to take care of... just knowing they're there helps out a ton. If you take a flat head screwdriver, you can pop them out w/o damaging the clips at all.
