I a sorry I agree with Billboost on this one,but do understand sometimes you got do what the woman wants and that is not bad suv. But the bville will better fuel mialge and from my experince are more fun to drive. Just becuase it bigger does not mean safer.
But glad to have you hear even if you do get the suv stay in the club.

You all have asked some good questions.

First of all, although the Bonneville protected my wife well in the accident, she wants to be higher up off the ground. She saw the grill of the Ford F150 heading right toward her window at eye level, which gave her quite a mental shock (but fortunately, not a physical one). She thinks that setting up higher in an SUV will at least put her up on the same level of trucks and SUVs in an accident. That is her line of thinking anyway, and this will be her vehicle.

I know that the GC SRT8 will get bad gas mileage. Most of the ones driven daily are getting about 15 mpg city and highway mixed driving. Gas mileage isn't really a concern. But with the GC's handling, braking, performance and safety is a good compromise. Plus it has side and head curtain air bags which also help in the safety department.

Most of you probably don't know this, but I came to the Bonneville from an '04 GTO that also was totaled in an accident. I feel GC SRT8 is a great replacement for the Bonneville/GTO plus the extra utilitiy of an SUV.

Sorry about the GXP. As far as SUVs go i'd get a Trailblazer SS because it can tow 6500 lbs. The SRT8 for some odd reasaon can only tow something like 2000lbs.

Very sorry about the car, but it protected you well.

Just because the car is gone doesn't mean you have to go!

I am just glad to hear that she is ok. You will love the Jeep. If towing is a concernn you dont have to get the SRT option (as I am sure you know) but the SRT=fun.

Did you ever gets pics. of the wrecked GXP?

GreystoneGXP 06-22-2006 09:03 AM

Thanks for asking me to stay, I'll probably lurk around for awhile. I still do on the LS1GTO board.

I have an '04 Dodge Dakota 4X4 with a 4.7L V8 that can tow up to 6800 lbs, so that will be my tow vehicle if I need one. The GC SRT8 towing is reduced because of the 1" lowered ride height, and the transmission/xfer case.

I have pictures of the wreck, and will post them if someone will give me some instructions.
