DETROIT - Toyota reported a 17 percent rise in its U.*. sales in August, while GM sales increased 3.9 percent from a year ago as the companies said buyers looked to more fuel-efficient offerings. But Ford'* sales dropped 11.6 percent and sales by Honda and DaimlerChrysler each fell 3.2 percent.

People must be getting tired of their product tiny step in the right direction for GM
Let me tell you that a 3.9% gain in REVENUE is huge for a company that size. Not sure how the sales figures will play into that, but that gain is no small potatoes. The trick is making it a consistent figure.
