Default GM Sued by couple because of analog ONSTAR system

Hi all, I'm sure we have all heard that the Onstar system in the pre-2004 cars will not be upgradable by GM because they have not offered an upgrade plan. Well, a PA couple have decided that GM wasn't exactly planning properly when they bought their 2002 Escalade with an analog only system. They are suing because thereis no upgrade plan for their vehicle.

If you think about it, it was kind of stupid that GM offered an analog only Onstar system when digital was the newer, more advanced network. Now that AMPs (analog) service is shutting down, so will all the analog devices.

Comments? I would like to see an upgrade path for our cars. While I currently don't subscribe because I knew the system was going to be eliminated in 2008, I think it'* a decent safety feature I might pay for.

I think Ddalder (member here), has converted or is going to convert, look at his sig.
He has reverse engineered most of the entertainment system and upgraded it using factory specs and protocalls.
This is his 12 disc cd changer addition. Good look at class 2 communtications.

In today'* day and age, the onstar is a great safety device in your car. Because most people are too good for anybody to pull over and help someone out. So at least onstar can provide some assistance when needed. Especially when out in the country where the chances of someone being around is very slim. So the people suing should get what they want. Especially with an escalade, no upgrade system on that beast, come on. How expensive does the vehicle have to be before you can get the digital upgrade?

And onstar not having an upgrade for every make and model is a bad thing since like it said in the article. 90% of the users have analog. Onstar'* stocks are going to hit rock bottom if they don't do something fast.

That'* just frakin' stupid. Does that mean I can sue because my old 486 DX4-120 won't run Vista when it ran Win 95 just fine???

Technology changes, but not enough yet where manufacturers can see the future.

Then either buy something newer or DEAL WITH IT. Should I sue GM b/c my car wasn't available with OnStar? Should they have looked into the future and said "hey, we're gonna have OnStar one day, let'* put it in this car". People these days. :?

I'm sure in the TOS of onstar states that service can be shut down for whatever reasons, etc.

If a gas station stopped carrying diesel, you can't sue them because you drive a TDI Jetta.

AMPS service was primarily analog setup for cell phones, and I know sprint is pretty much excluively digital (EV-DO) on all new phones, and getting rid of AMPS. It might be the mobile phone industry causing this shutdown as much as GM?
