Default GM addresses (some) L36 intake manifold leaks (56k warning)

Found this scan on another website regarding intake manifold coolant leaks, and wasn't sure if it was common knowledge yet or not:

Now if only they'd send everyone with pre-2000 3800s such a letter...

That'* just the gasket, what about the upper manifold itself? That'* rediculous.

That is a known recall on the 2000-2003 Bonnevilles with L36. I think someone posted that info (recall number & info) last year when it first hit the street.

Sounds kinda like a bubble-gum repair to me. You could do the same thing yourself with a ratchet and a bottle of BarsLeaks

this is a different leak than what you guys are used to hearing about - not catastrophic failure because of an overheated stove pipe, but because of a problem with the throttle body gasket. as far as i know, it doesn't damage the upper intake at all, but the gasket can fail.

which is why they aren't replacing the manifold - there'* no problem with the manifold

They recalled all 2000+ GM cars equipped with the L36 engine for this "problem". I got one for the Monte and had it done right away.
