It definatly looks cool.

For most of the guages you'd just need a imer to throw each guage it'* max value, For the speedo and tach you'r need a signal generator, little more expensive. I've considered it but the cost is prohibitive.

The new Subaru Legacy does this (you'll see it in the commercials), and because it has gauges all lit-up-like the 1998+ Caddy STS, it makes it all the prettier

My speedo and tach do not sweep.

The gauges sweep (its calibration) because when the car is sitting over night or long, the gauges move up a bit. You can notice this is if you turn your car off

The SEs don't sweep (and most any car for that matter) and they still read accurately. I don't think it'* for calibration purposes...doesn't make sense.

None of my guages sweep at all. They just kind of "wake up." You know, they move from off of the guage to the start of it.

My gauges used to sweep if I remember correctly but now only the gas gauge does it, but the temp gauge does not. Ah well. It is uber cool though.

My 95 SSEi sweeps all but the tach and speedo. I do remember one time working on a Bonne way back in the day and seeing all the gauges do that and I freeked out thinking that the motor was about to blow...LOL then they all went to where they should and I was like whew!! It is cool but if you dont know its supposed to do it it can look a little scary...ahh heat boost and gas just went all the way to the top!!!
