Default Gauge sweep question

On my 95 SSEi, why don't the speedo and tach do a swwep like the other gauges do? You'd figure they would seeing they are electromechanical gauges, just like the other four are.

When you start up an SSE cluster (atleast 92-99) the gauges do a full sweet from left to right, and back to their starting values.

SE'* DO NOT do this. Yet they are electromechanical.

My speedo and tach sweep. VERY slowly on a LONG deserted road. Full-gauge.

But not at startup with the rest of the gauges. Wish they did, don't know why they don't.

That'* strange. My 95 SSE did do a sweep. You'd think the 95 SSEi would since it is practically the same gauge cluster minus the boost gauge.

You sure about that? All of my gauges sweep except the tach and speedo. Same as Jseabert'* 93SSE, and dirverjohn'* 92 SSEi.

AH!! I know what your talking about.. why would you want the speedo and tach to do that? Is it to make sure they are working? or what? My fuel gage doesn't sweep, along with speedo, tach, and I don't remember if the voltmeter does, but the temp and oil pressure does.

I actually read somewhere a long time ago that GM did this "because it looked cool." I believe vettes do it also, but I could be mistaken.
