Tonight i was coming home from Best Buy with a friend...I decided to show him a SSE ive seen for sale for a long time that ive never looked at in person. Asked the lady about it. Sat down inside it, leather is mint, exterior is decent minus rusty hood chips that can be fixed easy. needs a battery..but ill bring my charger tomorrow. She said it runs really well and she used it to bring her infant daughter around, but they now have a minivan.. its been parked on there driveway for around a year..but theyve started it frequently and moved it around. Asking 1800 OBO CDN...1000 USD or so. Has 171,000 miles (seemingly well cared for).
What things would be KEY to look for on this car..i can almost garuntee the ABS will not work as that is the usual problem...but im more concearned with the driveline and Tranny.
New tires all round also.

The 1991'* ABS system is nowhere near as big of a headache as the 1988-1990 models. Hell, my ABS is "disabled" right now, got a big idiot light flashing because of it though.
Transmission?
Rear air shocks? Front struts?
Interior Electronics? Test ALL of them. It was easier to count what worked than what didn't work when I initially got my car.

Yep, I agree with Randy. If the lines are rusting, that is a sign of some lack of maintenance. And some headaches later
.
RepinS: my ABS is disabled also. I did a 100mph run, and fried all my WSS. Pull the codes from the ECBM.. I think it'* shorting A + H on the ALDL port. Ignition off -> short wires -> ignition on -> watch -> de short -> short again. If light doesn't come on or stays solid [can't remember at the moment] it'* done displaying codes. Drive the car faster than 25mph, the light will go out if it was just a fluke problem.. but if it comes back on.. ABS = broken.

My ABS works fine. I haven't really had any problems with my car. I've had my car for 3 years now and just had some minor repairs needed. I haven't had nearly the problems my son has had with his 94. **knocks repeatedly on wood**
Besides the fuel and brake lines, check the rear frame section that is just above the rear muffler ( passenger side) since it rusted on mine due to the fact that the exhaust is kinda hidden on this style car and well that is where is comes out. I recently had the frame on the driver side let go where the rear sway bar mounted. All easily fixed. Maybe check on the front inner fenders for holes where the strut towers start to angle for the wheel well.
Is that mileage in miles or KM'*?? cause my 90 SSE had 177,000 KMS on it when I got it a couple years ago.
