Whats a governor?
I don't have one
(before the idiot gallery throws their 2 cents in I know what a governer is)
As fun as it may be to locate the governor, don't try it all the time, the results are premature tranny death

ok... let me see about rephrasing this...
1. accelerate to 105 or so however you want (get to 105 MPH, it doesn't matter how)
2. let the tranny go to 4th gear and lockup (let up off the accelerator and go like your gonna cruise at 105 MPH)
3. give it enough gas to accelerate while still staying in 4th and lockup (give it a little bit more gas, enough so you start to accelerate slowly towards 108 MPH)
4. when you reach 108 or when you stop accelerating, floor it (when you get to 108 MPH, put that tall narrow pedal thingy (gas pedal) on the floor)
anything i need to clarify?

I got a good one..
Think about your torque converter as 2 fans, engine side/ tranny side.
This is why you can put your foot on the brake pedel at a stop light and not stall like a manual. Therefore the engine fan is spinning but the tranny fan isnt getting enough to over power the wheels.. at acceleration- that why there was a lag on early trannys one fan would spool right up then it would catch the other. When it locks up the two fans are going at the same speed and the engine doesnt need to work as hard to keep going
