Sounds like you need skid plates for the bottom of the car if the wife is going to keep 4x4ing in it. Maybe light weight aluminum sections so you can get access when you need too

It'* probably not going so well since the dog marks a tree and they cut it down. I would just chalk it up to an "ooopsie"
