I also hate the "dented" look of the 96-99, but I love the seats (better leather than 92-95) and the series II is faster.

I'd like to end my bonneville phase with a 2003 SSEi heavily modded.

I'd have to say either the 96-99 SSEi (guess I am in the minority) especially after my experience with Tm'* last week, or the 88-91 SSE'*. Had a friend that had a gold one, we just called it "the Bonnie"

Yeah pretty much like the fogs on the inner. It looks too much like a GA and GP when they are on the outside.Didnt they go to the outside fog lights in 02? If it wasnt till 03 then Ive seen some wrongly labled pictures. Also like where the grill area/front bumber cover comes over the top of the poncho symbol. Not just smooth down the front.

I think you are thinking of the difference of the Se vs. teh SLE and SSEi. I believe in all of the 00+ teh fogs were on the outer on the SE'*, and all of the 00+ SLE / SSEi'* had them on the inner.
Check the photogallery to see what I mean.
I would but I am at work and should proabbly not even be on here right now.

2000 – 2004 SLE/SSEi (no SSEi in 04 though) had the fogs towards the center of the bumper. 2000 – 2005 SEs had them on the outside, as well as the 05 SLE and 04-05 GXP.

Why did they do that with the SE'* 00-05? They musta been forshadowing what they would all look like by....well.... the end. Cause to have the same car with diff, im guessing bumper cover, prob cost em a pretty penny from a production stand point. Im lookin the galery now, they all are just gosh darn handsome cars!!! har har har I would like to see a GXP with an 00-03 SLE/SSEi front clip, well bumper cover/grill. Thatd be sweet. Im gonna do a lil somthing to make my bonne look how it shoulda if they had 04/05 SSEi. Just gonna take a lil off and put a lil back on.... stay tuned!!!

Because the fog lights have ALWAYS been on the outside for SEs, not just 00+.

If you want the extra options with the sportier body style, you have to pay more. Some people like the sportier look, some don't. So they make different trim levels to appeal to more people. There has to be something that sets the different trim levels apart.

I would have to say 65 vert is my fav bonneville, but out of the FWD gens, It would be the 92-95 SSE (had three so far) followed by the 88-91 SSE then the 96-99. Never was a huge fan of the 00+
