Default Engine code and VIN digit for Series II?

On vehicles equipped with a series II SC motor, will the engine code still be 1 and be the 8th digit in the VIN? I want to give this information to a couple of buddies so they can keep their eyes open at salvage auctions.

You're a very resourceful dude. I never would have thought to look on Ebay for that info. I guess I can answer my next question myself which would have been the model year codes.

Thanks :P

Thanks, Don. I looked at some Buicks and GPs on Ebay and it seems that engine code 1 and year code T,V,W and X for the other makes would indicate the series II SC as well.
