I generally just smack the door frames, maybe in a few places, with my hand to break the ice. Then, once you got it open, some sort of de-icer to prevent it from happening again. Vaseline will work if you wanna save a few bucks (and don't try and tell me a college kid ain't got Vaseline...
)

whenever my door freezes shut, i just hip-check the door right near the latch area, and it almost always will break the ice enough for it to open easily, or with minimal extra effort on the handle

I finally got in, it was mostly just the sun slowly defrosting the door. I went to Wal-Mart and got a can of wd-40 and sprayed the door seals. I wanted Slick 50 but no one carried it. IMO Slick 50 is superior to WD-40. But oh well.



and its not a matter of breaking the ice with the kind of seals mine are..they don't break... umm. so what is the best preventitve...scott said something about REMLUBE?
