Default Doom and gloom for the 'zilla'* tranny? UPDATED

Got a GOOD squeal on an uphill WOT accelleration today. Just wet enough the 2nd gear shift broke it loose. My shifts are so hard now they chirp the tires. It won't be long until the 2-3 shift does that too.

So the question is.......will the trans last until the Woodburn Dragstrip for the West meet? Or will it blow at the track?

Will it frag the diff? Or shatter a gear?

Taking bets now.......

Damn Bill, that is not good! Sorry to hear. Are you going to fix 'zilla or buy a new beast?

Really sorry to hear about your tranny problems..... I can relate.

Might wanna get that tranny rebuilt/looked at, before it completely goes..... might save your some $$$... but I'm not expert.

get a bulletproof one from Ty and maybe an LSD??? I bet it will die in everyday driving, thats when you spend most of your time driving the car, so its the most probable.

Haven't heard from Ty in awhile, and I don't wanna be the first to run one of the bulletproof trannies. I'd like to see someone else be a guinea pig first.

No way this will be fixed by WCBF and Woodburn drags, so I either have to baby it, and possibly blow it there, or count on luck.

My 1-2 shift will really snap your neck now. Something else has to give from that stress at some point. 2-3 is getting nearly that bad.

I'm gonna do some poking around. This may be repairable without dropping the trans. Gotta hit the books. I suspec the modulator may be doing it. If that'* it, I'd be PISSED if the modulator caused my diff to frag before I replaced it. I need to swap one in and see what the deal is. Otherwise, it'* probably accumulators. I can't see both of those shift solonoids doing the same thing at the same time.

I say the diff won't go. I can say from eperience... when it goes, it'* a complete surprise. My guess is you'll strip out some gears inside first.

Can you give us some odds? I at least want to know which option is the bigger money winner.
