You can program your preferences with your remote. Check the owners manual. You can set it for no lights, no horn or no lights and only horn for either lock or unlock.

OK, I found some weirdness but not as I expected. The parking brake made no difference. Car lights blink and horn honks once when you hit lock, and the lights blink 3 times upon unlock. With parking brake on or off. What I didn't expect was the FOB won't unlock the car if it is pressed from inside the locked car. How it knows that is so, I haven't a clue. Also,.... when you unlock the car manually from inside the car after it is locked with the FOB, the lights and horn blink and honk until you put the key into the ignition.
My 01 Camaro did that crap, only I didn't have a key fob. If I unlocked the drivers door I had 10 seconds before the "alarm" went off. If I unlocked the passenger side it went off immediately. Annoying as all hell.
