What does the i in SSEi signify? My friend just bought a '94 SSE and it has all the options my '93 SSEi has, including the SC. So why were some fully optioned SSE'* called SSEi'*? :?
I stands for nothing. Just nowadays a fully loaded car with every options in it. Supercharger, Bose, sunroof, leather, steeringwheel controls, HUD, accesory kit, blah, blah, blah.............................................. .............................
SSE is meerly the same. 97 was the last year they gavr an option for a supercharger. Some comes with 12 way power seats or regular seats, HUD, its not to easy expalinging. They do look sinular though.
I also have an SSE thats supercharged. GM did eitheer some special orders or just bent some rules (In my own words) just to be doing something with the cars. Believe me if you insoect the car real thouroughly but that SSE is missing some things that yourSSEi has.
Did you say he had a 94 SSE SC?
my guess that the SSE that your friend has doesnt have all the things yours does. To be honest I dont ever rermember hearing a SSE SC after 93. I believe that in 92-93 they made the SSE SC as many members have them here, but I cant say that I have ever herd of a SSE SC in 94 or newer

Yeah, he said it was a '94 SSE. Maybe a early '94? I didn't look under the hood, but the boost gauge was there and working. Had the SSE decals too. I'm thinking there might be a difference in suspension?
To clarify:
In 1992 there were three models: SE, SSE, and SSEi. The SSE could be ordered with the L67 and the SSEi came with it standard. They had the same suspention and similar options were available standard.
In 1993-1994 there were three models: SE, SSE and SSEi. The SE could be had with or without the SLE option but no SC. The SSE could be had with an SC in 1993, but not 1994. The SSEi was still top dog when it came to options and standard features, and included the L67 (SC). (However, knowing Pontiac, they may have offered the SSE SC in 1994...If someone has one, please chime in).
In 1995-1997 there were two models: SE and SSE. The SE could be had with or without the SLE package, but could also be ordered with an L67 so long as the SLE package was ordered as well. The SSE could be had with the SSEi package which included the L67.
In 1998-2003 there were three models: SE, SLE, and SSEi. Straight forward...SSEi is the only L67 equipped offering.
in 2004 the offerings are as follows: SE, SLE, and GXP. No more L67 offering, and no more SSEi. The GXP comes with vin Y engine...a 4.6 L Northstar.
All non-SSEi L67 equipped cars came with the "supercharged" badging either on the doors or on the decklid ('69-'67 only had the badge on the decklid). Any other badging (SSE, or SSEi) on the non-SSEi L67 equipped cars have been re-badged.
