Did some matainance on my brothers L67 swapped 2000 SE
Well we got on a scanner about a week ago. We were seeing 5-7 Kr and only about 9 degrees of timing. So we figured it was time to throw a few little things at it. Last night we through in a 180 stat. This morning we fixed a vaccum leak and throw in some autolite 605'* gapped to .055. What we took out said a little story in itself.
Well when the dropout came it came with a belt for a 3.4 pulley. We didnt think much of it at the time. But after pulling out the autolite 104'* gapped to .040, i think the motor may have had a 3.4 pulley on it at one time Only problem is the people didnt do enough reading because they used the platinums. . But i figure having those plugs at that gap in a stock car it couldnt have been helping gas milage or performance.
So we are hoping to get back on a scanner this week and see if it helped the situation.

104s with a small gap should reduce KR, not increase it. Your 605s gapped to .055 have more chance of causing KR, unless I'm not understanding the situation. See what else you can find that might be causing knock.

104s are a heat range colder than 605s, and a bigger gap will cause a cause a bigger spark. If you're seeing knock due to detonation from 104s gapped to .040, you'll definitely see knock with 605s gapped to .055.
Keep looking for reasons why that engine is knocking. How'* fuel pressure? Injectors in good shape?

Yea that makes sense Ben. Now i am a little nervous with those plugs on there. If he was seeing KR before i dont want him to see more now. I will have to have him get on a gauge monday.
On the scanner his injectors looked good, also O2'* looked good. We are getting it on a fuel pressure tester this week.

Just because he got KR with the 104s doesn't mean he'll get more KR with the 605s. It will only be a problem if the knock is ignition related. I highly doubt it'* the problem, just wanted to correct your previous inference that changing to 605s with a bigger gap would lower KR

Ok, i see.
I realized that switching to a wamer, bigger gap will not lower kr (obviously ), but i was thinking maybe switching to a copper plug that runs cooler and plugs that are gapped all the same may . That coupled with a 180, i was hoping he would see atleast some less.
The 5-7 degrees was on a very warm muggy day. We rescanned on a normal day and was getting 2-3 degrees. But i want him to go on the mindset of my car was seeing 5-7 degrees, because some days are going to be hot and muggy.
