Default Dex-Cool Question

After reading about the Dex-cool problems recently I checked my car (2000 ssei) and noticed that the liquid is an orange color. Is this the dreaded Dex-cool? I do not have the means to do this at my home (no garage) so I would normally take the car to the dealer. However after reading some of the posts on here it looks like the dealer would probably put it back in the car. I live in Dublin, OH about 3 miles from Intense....do they do this type of work there, or should I just take it to a Mr. Tire or a similar type garage and request the type of coolent I want put back in there?

Thanks for the help.

yes the orange would be dexcool.

I cant really answer your other questions. But with enough money any shop will do just about anything

It'* possible it could just be Prestone (dex-compatible) but to be safe I'd get it flushed out and replaced with either the Prestone stuff or the traditional green stuff

If you live 3 miles from INTENSE, take it in there and while they are changing the Coolant have them pump a few more ponies into it.

You are due for changing the Lower intake manifold gaskets. Do it now.

And INTENSE has all your gaskets. I'd bet they'd be cheaper than the dealer, and I know for a fact (without question) that they know the 3800 better than the dealer.

You can joke about it and you personally may know your stuff but there are some, particularly where I live that will recommend filling the SC snout with 10W30 synthetic oil.
......after they have replaced the glow plugs.

Yeah, that'* for the rare Bonneville TD-SSEi...
I'd still vote for a trip to Intense since you're so close. It sounds like you'd have a blast meeting those guys too.
