desperatlet need the truth fast.. please help
o.k so ill make it short. im getting 9 or 10 mpg and my car smells very badly like rotten eggs.. so i bought a magnaflow cat which is 13'' long and my stock cat is about 21'' long so the shop i went to told me that the cat i bought would not fit so i took it as they did not want to do it fo rthe first price they told me ($40). so i went to another place who i told my story tp about the first place and their excuses and they sad bring it in and they will do it for $50 no questions asked... so i brought it in and dropped it off and when i came back 3 hours later to pick my car up it was in the same spot so i went inside to see what happened and they told me to speak to the mechanic.. so i went over and the (mechanic) told me that he can not put it on because it is way to small compared to my old one and my engine is so big that i need a stock size cat like the one i have because he said if he adds a peice of pipe to make it fit that it still wont work because the filter in the magnaflow cat is about a 1/3 of my original at which would make it over heat and my check engine light come on.....?????????????????????????
so is what they are saying is true.? or not.? can some one please hel[ me and tell me if the magnaflow universal cat will work even tho its shorter then mine or would it cause lots of problems like they said.....??????????
(i need help) :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
i cant afford to buy a oem cat for $300-$500 and i cant afford to keep spending so much on gas...............im truely ready to park it up and just drive the 88 which runs great...

That is totall BS.... Not true at all
A Magnaflow cat 2.25 in and 2.25 out will flow enough for a 5.9L...
See if you can find another shop to deal with...
I have a 2.5 in and 2.5 out on my 95 SE... Been there for well over a year... As you know, The car has no issues at all...
They are full of BS... And the inside of the cat is nothing like a filter... Its a flow through design, that can clog over time and miles just like my stock cat did and the reason it was replaced.. And yes and length of pipe was added to my car to fit the shorter cat in
Just look at how many of us run that very Magnaflow Cat with 0 issues....

Heh, the one on the tempo was almost twice as big, and i had them drop a catco high flow in it. they just added an extra pipe. Also may want to make sure you have enough peanuts lined up for a muffler too, because if the cat converter blew chunks, it will be in the muffler. Gave me an excuse to put a glasspack on the tempo
