Default Check engine light- May be an easy fix!

Ahh yes, my damn check engine light went on a while back, for the second time, as a result of spinning my tires. got it checked out once said it was some **** with the EGR. today I got an oil change and a coolent flush(out with orange and in with the green!), and now it'* off. i'm so glad.

It was probably just excess heat at the time.

Codes usually have to be cleared, they just don't go away (or so i think)

Why did you change from the orange coolant to the green coolant? I thought people normally go the other way.

based on a few mechanics and some discussions in here. changing to the green may be a good a thing. certainly it'* not something that could cause harm.

Nope, it just went off. I was standing there the whole time while the flush was goin on. besides, the check engine wasn't brought up to the guy, or was even a factor in my decision to change the fluid.

I haven't checked it out for sure, but supposedly there are some TSBs about Dexcool breaking down parts of the coolant system. I figure, if your car'* still under warranty, keep the orange, otherwise, switch to green.
