Get your paint code from the label in the trunk. Deathrat may be able to tell you what percentage of cars had it, or at least how common it is. He sees alot of our cars come through the dealership he works at.

I THINK it'* the U code......going out to check my car.....Yup. Mine'* U9806.

I think the C means clearcoat, but they all got that. Can you post a pic of your car? I'd like to see the color!

I DONT HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA OR SCANNER SO AL I CAN SAY IS CAR LOOKS GREEN AT ONE TIME AND AT CERTAIN ANGLES PARTS OF CAR LOOK PURPLE. THE GUY I GOT THE CAR FROM SAID HE HAD THE HOOD REPLACED UNDER WARRENTY FOR A SMALL RUST HOLE IN THE NOSE AND THE PAINTER AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ONE THAT COLOR BEFORE.

It should be the U code. The BC/CC stands for Base Coat / Clear Coat, so I dont think the C at the end means clearcoat but ? Maybe deathrat can help here disciphering the codes!

It might not be factory paint.......pull a door sill plate and see if there'* any evidence of repainting, then compare it to what you find out from a dealer/deathrat.

Okay here'* the deal on ready paint codes:
" U272C" is the paint code. The first letter "U" stands for "Upper" body colour. Now if your car/truck had two-tone paint it would read as: Uxxx/Lxxx.
The last 3 digits is the actual paint code. GM mixes up letters in there to give more available paint codes for the future. The rest of the 3 digit codes on that label are the vehicle options the car was built with. "L" codes are usually denotes engine type, while "M" codes denotes Transmission types. Now with that all said....If you phone your local GM dealer with this code, he'll give you the GM P/N for the touch up paint & the name of the GM coloue it'* called too.
