Default Buick gn engine in firebird for employees

Hello world.

I need a few people to help me track down a rare car that gm made I think for just employees. My dad worked for gm plant in Linden and he once had a chance to buy a firebird or transam ( he does not remember) with a buick grand national engine in it. The only ketch was you had to go pick them up in Detroit and pay cash. They just rolled them out of factory and drove them around the track.

If this rings a bell with anyone please shed some light. I have been looking for these for awhile and up untill now I never thought about asking this forum.

Please let me know, thanks...

I am not sure about the specific cars that you mention, but there are variants of the Trans Am that were fitted with the 3.8 turbo.

Here is one example that I am aware of:

I am pretty sure it'* the same engine, give or take some possible pieces that may have been bolted on from the GNX, like intercooler and stuff.

I am not sure if it was limited to special editions, but they are fairly few and far between.

Rjolly,

Thank you for that info. I was able to do some more searches. It seams the made1555 cars as special edition that is turbo/ leather and white? But 157 were cloth with pace car stickers on the drivers side that had the gnx frame and engine? Thouse were used in parades and were only sold as lottery to gm employees? Is all that true?
