Pontiac is unsure wether it will continue to buidt its large sedan, the Bonneville, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune. Pontiac-GMC marketing general manager Jim Bunnel admitted the division is unsure how the Bonneville will fit into the lineup after 2005. "We'll build the Bonneville through the '05 model year, but beyond that, we aren't sure what we'll do," he said. The Bonneville has been in a sales slide, selling just 27,000 units through the first 10 months of 2004. It'* unknown wether a sedan will replace the Bonneville or if a car based SUV will get the top spot at Pontiac. What is known is that Pontiac trademarked the alphanumeric name G8 earlier this year, and whatever type of vehicle replaces the Bonneville will bear that name. END

Its extremely likely, say goodbye to the Bonneville.

I dont have a problem with it. I choose to look on the bright side and consider it the evolution of the bonneville. At least we will all know what it should be named

look the bonne will always be around, this club will exist and prolly have a G8 section. the people that have G6 still flock to the GA website

My guess is that, at least for the time being, the Bonneville Club will keep its current name. There'* something to be said about the legacy of the Bonneville, and I think it will stay alive for a while. Things might change after a few years go by, but I'd put my money on the name staying the same for a while. Especially if the new G8 is an SUV, like the article rumors.

The new G8 may have the 400hp 6.0L V8 as the top engine choice. So, the soul of the Bonney lives on and is improved upon.

A powerful V8 would be all well and good, but will it have the reliability of the 3800? And, more importantly, will it be as easy to work on and easy to modify? Those are the aspects that I love about the 3800. It might be tired, old technology, but if it makes decent power and does it day-in and day-out, I'll take it over any new motor that'* done after 150,000. I might be a little old-fashioned, but the 3800 has really grabbed my interest in motors. Or I don't know... maybe I'm just scared of change?
