Bonnie Voyage (C&D Feb 2005)
If it becomes necessary, we'll prepare for the G8 well in advance as we did the GXP. By the time the GXP rolled off the factory floor to the dealers, all the search engines had already linked the GXP to us.

Start the linking!
i believe it'* 3800 base.
and yeah, the only l67 application as of MY2006 that I know of is the park avenue ultra. the 3800'* life is drying up. and flint is getting an upgrade to build the new v-6'*.
why?
go to somewhere like gminsidenews.com. no matter how good the motor is, someone who hasn't driven it hears crap like this *all the time*:
it'* archaic pushrod technology. why doesn't gm get with the times?
that'* a 30 year old engine! why would I want that?
why can't gm figure out how to put 4 valves to a cylinder?
stuff like that. really upsets me. they were all up in arms, asking why GM couldn't match a new power plant (me thinks it was a nissan?). it was a 4.2 (or something like that) v-6 that put out 264/280. and they just sat there complaining that gm didn't have anything to compete.
yeah, that archaic pushrod motor? with the soooo old technology (reality check: find out when OHC engines were first made... they're both archaic - and they both work well, for different applications), the L67 was putting down 260/280 in less liters.
*sigh*
it'* a great motor, and I hate to see it go. but until the press gets their respective heads out of their butts, it doesn't matter. because unless you get them to change their tune, nothing will change, and the 3800 will be a history lesson - one of the greatest gm motors ever made
*sniff*

That looks like a damn beefy impala.. i dunno.. i like the looks of the GXP better then that.
BTW.. none of you thought about where all the GP guys are gonna do?? The G8 is going to be a mixture of the bonneville and the grand prix (b/c they are BOTH getting cancled) ..so who technically owns the rights to the G8?? Bonneville or Grand Prix?? Who'* gonna give in first?? AHH!!

3800 was good, but it'* bell has been ringing for a while. Weight is too high, and they'd have to basically do a full revision to meet competitors, so sticking with the 60*, which gives more options for packaging, and is a smoother engine, will be better in the long run. Much lighter type of engine as well.
