Does the battery tray have to be removed to get to the bumper bolt on th epassenger side? I think it'* spot welded on. Or is there any other way to get to that bolt with the tray still in. 10mm wrench couldnt do it, tried a 3/8 drive not a chance even 1/4 drive ratchet still not enough room.

Which bolt? There'* like..... 12 or so.

And the battery tray is welded to the unibody.

There are 4 bolts from the shock to the bumper, 2 from the shock to the front of the car, 1 under the hood holding the shock also.(each side) The one I can't get to is under the hood because the battery tray is in the way. They must have put the bumper on first then put the battery tray in when they made the car?
Has anybody had to remove theirs? How'd you do it?

What? I've had the shocks out a few times and GM did not captivate a bolt with the battery tray.

Its not totally covered by the tray just enough that getting a socket to it doesnt work. It looks like the tray could have been installed 1/2" to the outside which would have made it easy to get to.
Instead of replacing that shock I'm trying to just keep it on the car and mount the bumper to the shock with the 4 bolts. HA like thats any easier, it was easy taking the old bumper of that way because I just ripped the bumper cover off and had all kinds of room. Now with all the extra plastic should be fun.
BTW what did you use to get that bolt out that I have under my battery tray?

Would a Universal Joint do it? The Craftsman ones, can almost do 90* bends..
