Rear crank seal. I've also heard of some having issues with the head gaskets. But, I don't think that'* too common.

I wouldn't let either problem be a show stopper since they are still very nice, fast cars. Use them as bargaining chips to talk the guy down. Way down!

Ask if the transmission has been changed. My father and I have seen many auroras with over 100,000 miles with tranny failures.

that'* only on the 1995 Model year. the 96-99 don't have that problem. Sucks that they got that reputation for that one model year though. basically I would check to make sure the engine is still strong, and transmission. They're reliable though so you shouldn't have too many problems. The Fuel Pressure regulator is a common problem to go bad too, but it is not too expensive to fix. Make sure the car starts ok without saying "clean key, wait 3 minutes" on the DIC because it'* common for the ignition switch to go bad making the car unstartable using the key. the ABS control module also is a common problem but it will not stop you from driving the car. All in all they're reliable trust worthy cars just make sure nothing is majorly wrong with it before buying.

well, to be fair you can say the same thing about the Bonneville transmission. the 4t80E is still a lot stronger than the 4t65E-HD.
