I just finished putting my PEM'* on my SSEi and started it up for the first time and am having some issues with parts smoking after the car is keyed off. Its happening at both ends of the crossover pipe where it meets the manifolds, and at the downpipe to rear manifold. At first i thought i had an exhaust leak but it continues to smoke slightly after the car is turned off. It isn't billowing out large amounts of smoke, just a small continuous amount. All i can think of is that either the PB blaster i used to get the studs out initially, or the Anti-seize i used on the bolts when i reinstalled them is burning off. Has anyone else experienced this after using either PB Blaster or Anti-seize on exhaust parts?
You bet.
Anything on exhaust manifolds, motors etc will "burn off" once you are running again. Anytime you work on a motor you can expect a certain amount.
Now..let me say, there is an expected amount as you have these exhaust manifolds that get very hot and oil/grease on them. There is however an unexpected amount of smoke...say like a belt on a pulley that no longer turns because of improper reassembly.
Your smoke sounds very normal. Afterall..you are cooking PB blaster and antiseize at exhaust temperatures. Toss on a steak and you've got dinner.
