Default Am I missing something?

I was looking at some bonneville pics of my gen a couple weeks ago and saw that on the underside in the front...that some of these cars had this kinda black trim on the bottom of the bumper cover. where all those bolts are.

i don't have one as you can see, and mine is all pushed up and cracked pretty well, but i was curious, was there originally one there on the LE bumper covers?

That piece for my SSEi is surprisingly inexpensive. 20 bucks or so IIRC.

I'm missing that piece on my SSEi. But my bumper also has a crack in it under the fog light, and it probably came off when it hit whatever caused that crack.

My '87SE had it, I hated it. Made the car way too close to the ground.

Yeah, the black plastic air-dam hangs off the bottom end of the front facia. The LE models have them too.

It takes a fair amout of abuse, like if you park too close to one of those concrete parking lot curbs, you can hang the thing up on the top. It also serves a useful purpose in that it forces a little more air up into the radiator and allows less under the car (It create a low pressure area behind it, and by its location under the radiator support, also creates a low pressure area behind the radiator..So, it improves the airflow through the radiator when the car is moving.)

Feeling up along my 90 LE, there'* a metal strip on the facia that you might be missing as well (reinforces the holes where the air-dam bolts attach to the facia.) If you find one and reattach it, it will pull the soft plastic facia back in place...taking that pucker out of the front end of your car.

Here'* a "worms-eye" view of my 90 LE..you can see the air-dam runs the entire length of the front facia.
