Default Alternator Hook-Up

Good morning all,

I have replace alternator # 7294103 on my Catalina Sailboat. However, I cannot figure out which wire connects to my boats Tachometer. This is important as my Tach also records my engine hours.
Thanks very much for any info you can provide.

Ed

What engine does your Catalina sailboat have?

What alternator does it have?

Was the wiring complete before replacing the alternator?

Can you post some pictures?

My engine is a M35, 4cyl diesel.
The Alt was a direct replacement of what was there and it was wired correctly.
Here is a picture of the alt.

Thank you very much for whatever help you can provide.

Looks like a 12Si.

Can you post pictures of the wires that are supposed to connect to it?

Looking around, I found this: https://www.catalina36.org/forum/gen...sal-m-35-and-b

Your boat is a Catalina. I have no way of knowing if all Catalinas are wired this way, or if it is only some of them. If it is some of them, I have no way of knowing if yours is one of them or not.

This thread seems to cover a lot of this as well: https://www.catalina36.org/forum/tec...or-purple-wire
