Is it the black outside with a white inside? If so, you squeeze the white part together, push in a little on the fitting, then then pull apart.

it'* metal with a black piece that has 4 tabs on it. I can't see any white pieces.

Looks easy here but when I try to press any tabs in there is no play.

Try pushing the fitting on to the filter a bit more, then squeeze. If it'* metal then you may need a fuel line tool. Those can be picked up cheep enough at autozone or advance auto.

yeah I was pressing with a bit of force. I was looking for a tool but nothing that would fit. Only about 1/4" between the fitting and fuel filter.

I can't clearly see the fitting in that picture.

Dan:
Yeah it doesn't have the white clips like our filters do.

I guess I'll just have to go out and play around more when it gets warmer.
