96 was the odd year. It'* alot harder to mod since it'* considered OBD 1.5

It would be in your best interest to wait on the 97-99

(VVV I stand corrected VVV)

96 and 96+ were all fully compliant OBD II. 94 and 95 were the hybrid years, in the Bonneville anyway.

96 was the messed up tranny motor combo where no one will touch the PCM, year.

Bah, 96 is a kickass year. You can mod your car and not have to worry that your tranny will blow after 30k.

97-99 are better for modding but the PCM on the 96' is much less restrictive. Very little torque management.

Don't be afraid of the '96. OBD II compliant, and I think there is a place that will custom burn a PCM, but I can't remember for sure.

All it has is a freaky transmission. It'* a 4T60-HD but with 2.93 gears instead of 2.97.

And yes, there is very little torque management. I would know.
