Default 95 bucks an hour stealership?

they want 500 bucks to change my UIM lol. - THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COST OF ANY PARTS.

I will buy a service manual and premium torque wrench for that. or fly a BC member out here for cheaper and still pay em 300 bucks to do the job for me ha ha.

I think my dealership in California charges over $100 an hour. Just 3 weeks ago a complete replacement of both upper and lower intake manifolds cost me $1600, including new plugs and oil change. Was it a lot? Yes. I probably could have gone to an independent garage and got it done for hundreds less. But I had my dealership do the job for several reasons:
(1) they had it apart for diagnosing why my coolant was gone, causing overheating.
(2) they could do the job in a day.
(3) they've done lots of them, so I don't expect them to screw up any part of it.
(4) I had no time to do the job myself.
(5) I needed a running car immediately, and didn't have an available temp car. Even my wife'* car was not an option, since she needed it. Rental would be an option, but over the length of time I might spend doing the job myself, probably not cost effective.
(6) I have a good relationship with my dealer, I've bought two Pontiacs from them, and they've done 99% of any maintenance needed on both my 97 Bonnie, and my wife'* 01 Grand Prix GT. I trust them.
(7) My dealership is well known in my town for their outstanding service department, lending to that trust.

Don't get me wrong. If I had plenty of spare time and an alternate vehicle, I'd also probably fly in a Bonneville Club member and buy a case of beer.

The shop I work at charges $75 an hour, but thats on boats. Our cost of living here is pretty high too, resort towns suck.

nothing is wrong with the UIM, the gasket is shot or the manifold is cracked because some idiot did not torque them right, either way I am loosing lots of coolant.
