Default The '92 SSE gets a new transmission!

Expressing my woes and concerns in this other thread ---
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...=853566#853566
--- the car is now in the shop for the rebuild of the transmission.

Because I use the trans to 'engine brake', accelerated wear was inevitable, but not unexpected for a car with 100,000+ miles.

The shop owner is extremely professional and knowledgable besides being reasonable in the price.
He told me today that he will use my car as one of the examples taught to his builders. This is a problem that is not really understood without actually driving the car for diagnosis, and the lesson learned will assist the shop in giving better service.
I like the way he explained that.

Previously, he'd had the chief builder service the trans and test drive it, where it was declared 'OK'.
I brought it back and had the Boss drive it and then he understood why I insisted it was not OK.
Because of this, he now has another tool to use in diagnosing this particular problem and a great example as to the reason for really giving the product a hard test drive.
I'll drive it the same way only it will work better. Don't be shy about telling the mechanic what the car is doing. It pays to let them see it first hand.

I'm looking forward to getting the car back next week.
In the meantime, I rented a MINI COOPER to get me to work!!! Whatta blast!

Guess I posted in the wrong section for that comment.

As for future help, maybe list some info or links about building a long block?
I'll do a search, too.

Thanks!
