I'm pretty sure the 4T80 can be used on the 3800.

i like how its extra beefy, but the extra 90lbs AND 24% loss SUCK. if we had a 4t65hd, we'd put at least 15 more hp/tq down, and we wouldn't be over two tons

ahh, easier said than done. i was in a group looking at strengthening one part of our tranny (the 4l60), and while we can make parts of it stronger, making the whole thing stronger is no small task - because it can't just be stronger - it has to be warranteeable (is that a word?).

anyhew, my mind was dreaming of 600+ rwhp, and just trying to imagine if that would be possible with one of our cars (where the tranny didn't die in 1 year or so).

*sigh*

on a side note, the torque ratings (ie 4L60 vs 4T60) are *not* on the same scale - the 4T80 is approx able to handle the same amount of torque as the 5L50 or so. which gives me hopes for the future ;o)

oh, and for cost? there'* a 4t80 going on ebay in the next 4 hours. starting bid is 500 bucks, but nobody has touched it. not too shabby - it'* a professional rebuild...

the tricky part would be getting everything to match up probably. Still a good price for a tranny, whats the shipping on that?

This is cool that we actually have someone from GM who knows stuff! Make this guy an admin or something, he needs a title!
