Still, the STS-V is a nice car, and thats coming from a M5 owner....I wonder what the differential ratio in the STS-V is??

"Hemi" isn't some sort of special technology that can fail in the blink of an eye. Hemi motors would be just as likely to fail as non-hemi motors, assuming proper workmanship and care.
