The only reason H cars had 5 extra horses is they don't have the massive tailpipe kink at the converter.

The Series III is only the L67. The L36 is still the Series II. The only difference is the L67 has a better blower now. The M90 was redesigned and it is more efficient. So it makes 260hp and 280lb.ft. The L36 still makes its 200hp, and 205 in the Bonneville. It makes more in the Bonneville due to a better exhaust.

No plastic upper intake
The L36'* still have the plastic upper intake like always, because the engine has not changed at all, it is still the Series II. The L67 (Series II & III) don't have a plastic upper intake because of the boost. Nothing is changed here. The only difference in the Series III is the blower.

That is absolutely correct, and I still to this day don't understand what the hell GM was doing when they designed that in the exhaust. How stupid. With that removed on GT and GTP Grand Prixs, 4hp at the wheels has been proven many times, and more than 4 to the wheels has been achieved before, but the general belief is that it gains 4 to the wheels to have it replaced.

I read in this months Car and Driver test on the 2004 Grand Prix with the 260 hp Competition Group option that the boost is now 9.5 psi instead of the Series II stock 7 psi. That has got to make the 20 hp difference!

Yes. That is the 20 horsepower difference. The more efficient blower puts out 9.5psi on the 3.8 pulley whereas before the M90 put out 7psi with the 3.8 pulley. The new blower is enough more efficient that it makes 9.5psi at the same temps as the 7psi on the M90. So there is a guy on Clubgp that has a 3.4 pulley on his 04 Comp G. My guess is he is making 12psi, although I am not sure. I don't think he gets KR with the 3.4 either. The new M90'* are AWESOME. I'm gonna get me one!

I saw a new GP with a window sticker that said Series III V6 that wasn't blown. Or are you saying that they just didn't make any changes except the name?

That is not exactly true. The 3800 Series III has electronic throttle control, no more cable linkage.
