98 SE. 134,000 Purrs like a kitten but my gas mileage is all over the place. Just had a drop from 17.6 to 12.5 MPG city driv'n. Lots of Loooong uncoordinated Intersection lights. last road trip 25.5 MPG. Had one Chk. Eng. light for EGR a year ago. None since. New Spark plugs and leads, fuel pressure regulater, front OS, intake filter and PVC valve in last six months.

So if one were looking to get another Bonneville with over a 100k on the clock, which motor is more reliable? Series I or series II?

Personally, I would go with a series 2, but there are a lot of series 1 running around with a lot of miles. the 3800 is a good solid engine.

I know they are both great and I loved my series I, but they are getting harder and harder to find. (in good shape) Maybe I will look for a series II with the wine.

About 290K miles on the 94 chassis, but I'm not sure how many times the trans and engine have been changed. The previous owner hated doing maintenance, even oil changes. The 99 has 157K miles currently, and it'* still going with the original engine and transmission.
