The 3800 II was a totall redesign of the C and L 3800'*... It was designed to again lower emissions, make more power, and do it all with less weight both internally and blockwise... The emissions of the 3800II in 95-96 was down to dust when the cat warmed up... Or almost nothing... Very clean engines
The S3'* meet SULEV requirements (super-ultra-low-emissions-vehicle), the only rating left before ZEV (zero emissions vehicles)...
