Default 2002 GTP

Hey guys, Im looking into buying a 02 Grand Prix GTP with 38,000 miles, the problem is is that the supercharger doesnt whine (it does have it) and the boost gauge doesnt really register and boost which is digital. $150 a month, I could probably get the price of the car down due to the supercharger, two questions though should I have them fix it or should I and what could be wrong. The car drives great, picks up very well, but no whine. Thanks

From the factory GM sets up the airboxs to silence the supercharger whine. And if the gauge doesn't read any boost that is grounds for getting them to bring the price down period. If you plan on buying the car fix it your self and keep that price down. If they fix it, you just lost some leverage you could have used to work them down on the price.

Just a funny thought... Did you check to see if the belt was on the supercharger? I remember someone on this forum finding a used car dealer that was removing the belts from the */C cars because he thought they would get better gas mileage.

you'll have to do something to the airbox or get a cai or fwi

It never had whine. This isn't an M62. It'* an M90 with resonators in the airbox.

It'll never whine like a S1, but it can whine with the right intake setup. I'd be wondering what'* wrong with the low boost.

BCA?
BCS?
Bad tensioner/slipping belt?
Or a more serious problem causing the PCM to dump boost?

Should I take the car for a lower price or just forget about this particular one?
This is the URL to view the car I'm looking at.
