Default 2000 Mercury Sable LS "How does my *** look from back t

A friend of mine has a Sable LS and claimed it was pretty fast, and could beat my 'boat' (grr! fightin' words!) so we lined em' up on a back road. I got him off the line..through 2nd..through 3rd..by 70 I had backed off, because I thought he'd let off the gas..but..I saw him iiinching up. So, I floored it once more, then he started flashing his lights. Poor sap. =) First kill, and I'm not very proud of it. Weak *** 3.0 =(

My current winter car is a 2000 Taurus (sable in disguise!!!) and its true, it handles nasty under WOT. I havn't experienced teh not-shifting problem you described, but it shifts at awkward points, right when you start to get into the power. The 3.0 is weak, 155/165 at the fly-wheel for the base Vulcan engine, only 200/200 for the Duratech DOHC (which is an extra $2500 ) Im looking to get rid of my bull, and get into a bonny sometime this summer  I just can't stand going that slow in the off-season :(

It'* to bad that that'* true, you'd expect one of the best selling family cars in america to be at least comfortable on 5 hour drives My mustang is more comfortable for long drives than the taurus, I kid you not. :(
