That would be my guess, the symptoms of a blown manifold gasket are almost identical to that of a blown head gasket, so most people just automatically assume thats what it is.

Youve got coolant in the oil, or coolant in the cylinders, must be a blown head gasket right? As someone who has been through the UIM and LIM gasket failure, I can say thats 100% not true.

You should also ask him how long its been sitting there with coolant in the oil (most likely) or if the oil has been changed, no point in buying a cheap car only to have to rebuild the engine entirely.

Yeah, highly doubtful on the whole head gasket thing. Most people just assume anything is a head gasket if they don't know anything about engines.

I would say check it and grab it. If its nothing serious then they don't know what they have.
