No. General Chat is used to "talk about all things Bonneville". Maintenance items go in the Mechanical sections.

I posted it here because I rarely ever hear anyone mention the NOTICE forum. To me, it seemed if anyone would look anywhere, most would look here first.

This thread is not car related, this topic is about a function of the site. I see threads moved out of General Chat all the time and the reason given is that they are not car topics and usually belong in the Lounge. Bonneville = car. Bonneville Club = computer.
The Notice section is the first place I looked, because I had a site related issue, which was that I couldn't log in. It had nothing to do with my car, it had to do with my Dell computer logging on to this site.

If the site staff doesn't even follow the categorization agenda, why would you expect anyone else to? I don't mean that to sound insubordinate, it just seems silly to have a section for that purpose that is not used for that purpose. If the General Chat section is to be used for that purpose, then shouldn't it be labeled as a "catch-all" section for "everything else" And not labeled as "all things Bonneville"?
At first glance the General Chat section would seem to be for used for what the Lounge is used for. But if you read the rest of the section description on the forum index page, it is for topics related to Bonneville cars only, not other cars, not Firebirds, Fords, or AMCs, and that is how it is moderated. It is a confusing label and that is why so much of the moderators time is spent moving stuff out of there and deciding where it should actually go. If it were labeled more accurately, perhaps the moderators workload would be reduced because members would be better aware of what topics go where.

In this special, hopefully short lived, circumstance, I chose to put it here because I thought it would be the most visible. Is it perfect? Maybe not. But plenty of people did find it.

Furthermore, as I look through the admin'* list of users currently on the site, I see a dozen guests browsing Gen Chat... not a single one in NOTICE.

Well I didn't until after I had logged in or I wouldn't have mentioned it.
I see room for improvement, so I speak up.
This won't be the last such incident.

Bastard, how about you stop Moderating the Staff of the Forum? Every decision made is carefully thought out and discussed.

It was posted here for some VERY good reasons. Drop the issue.
