Don and I have considered this in the past, and it was posted, and lost in the crash. We just discussed it again. The reasons for NOT doing it:

1. We don't want to 'commercialize' this board. The members appreciate the lack of advertising and popups. With the only advertising limited to the vendor'* signature, it keeps the forum more unobtrusive. A Vendor rank would lean towards the 'commercial' attitude that we strive to avoid.

2. BC does not 'sponsor' or endorse any vendor on this site. We allow vendors membership, but nothing more. By creating this rank, it would APPEAR as if BC were backing the vendor.

3. MOST IMPORTANT: Members need to feel that they are on equal footing with the Vendor. With the Vendor being a member as well, just as their customer, the customer feels more at ease confronting the vendor here when they feel it'* necessary. If there were a special rank, and the Vendor appeared to be backed by the board, this would be less likely to happen.

4. The next person that makes an intake might want that Vendor rank for 'status'. It can be very difficult to manage the members who feel they may qualify for this status.

We strive to find good Vendors to support our membership. I think we've done a pretty good job. We've had to weed some out, and recruited others. Some will go the way of SC Performance and FLOZ, others will come to replace them. The links page and our membership will change from time to time to reflect this (When Floz was blacklisted, he was banned as well.....3 times as I recall ).

The links page will be updated soon to reflect our Vendors more accurately, but we will not be able to add a Vendor rank at this time.
Based upon the reasons listed above.....I accept your answer & see your point for not having a "Vendor" Rank. Thank you for clarifing your response & thank you for re-openning the decussion of this topic too. I fully agree with the decission you all made regarding this based upon the reasons given.

CBN means nothing to me, and frankly you're the only one whose made a big deal about it. If a rank is that important to you, then maybe you should post answers to questions and problems. That'll get my respect more then whining about ranks and vendor status.
Well maybe I did go a little over board on the lounge post....But you try to run a store, have a family, work a full time job, & ANSWER QUESTIONS from no less than 6 OTHER FORUMS besides this one! PLUS, answer questions from 2 newgroups & personal addressed emails too! The point I was trying to make in the lounge was that I wasn't happy with the way the CBN rank was made. As it happens, only very few people were even effected by that rank anyways....Nothing against the newer members here, but I don't claim to POST ***** MY WAY TO THE TOP as others do & have done on this forum. I think Mike has said the rest quite well.

If he doesn't have the information he usually doesn't answer it.

As for this vendor thing it is fairly simple. If a person wants to be recognized as a vendor they should be able to prove that they poses a business license and have some kind of place that they sell product as in an online store or a real physical store.
My time is precious to me, as I don't have enough waking hours to achieve even a third of what I like & need to do as it is! Yes, the CBN rank WAS important to me! As I felt I earned it! Yes I feel the Vendor Statis is important too, as I have set up my own store on-line & @ home too, complete with ALL the legalities done & paid for. These include, Business License to Operate a business within Canada; GST registration to collect GST; Import License; Export License; Business Bank accounts; Business VISA card; Business PayPal account; plus Suppliers that I have Charge Accounts with & others I pay by VISA/PayPal. So I feel I have earned the title of VENDOR too.

I do however fully agree with the Adminstration of this Forum as to their decission for not having the Vendor Rank too though. I do feel if offered, I would & know others too, would gladly PAY to be a Sponsored Vendor of this Forum too. But i see their reasons for not having it that way too.

:? didn't mean it as "bad" as it came accross.

I don't claim to "***** to the top" and there are reasons i'm not posting much here. It'* not over rank changes, it'* over things that drifted away from this board.
