Default Recent events on BC

After reviewing some recent unpleasant threads and the resulting fallout; I thought I would attempt to express some of my views.

Some may be tempted to label me a Will Wren groupie/conspirator or such. Yes Bill is a friend, yes I work in the same lab as Bill, we do have our share of personal, professional, automotive disagreements. We have the advantage of being able to deal with them face to face off line. The point being when we do not see eye to eye we deal with it in a responsible, respectful manner; this is how all conflicts should be handled.

I will now ask the BC staff to clarify or correct my understanding of the grievance process.

If you have an issue with another member try to resolve it off line (PM'*, email). Be respectful most issues are caused by misunderstanding or miss communication. (I have learned this in my 40+ years)

If you can not resolve the issue just let it go (preferred) or bring it to the attention of a moderator.

If your issue is with a moderator and you are not able to resolve it, ask an admin for assistance.

If your issue is with an admin and you are not able to resolve it...? (Insert staff comments here)

The biggest point I would like to make is; be mature and respectful towards all members and, the decisions of the staff are law, final, etc...

We are all here because we choose to be.

Well, the whole staff had attempted to address the recent problem in the past(like months ago) in the manors you suggested but to no avail. From there, the situation is above my head.

Yes, they did.

I just felt a need to go into old guy mode and try to impress on everyone that there is a proper way to deal with differences of opinion.

I will add; nobody has the absolute right to be here. (Except the forum owner.)
If someone chooses to violate policy or refuses to work with the staff */he must face the consequences.

Good points. There comes a point in everyone'* life that you decide to either be a part of society or a particular community or not. If you like BC, and you want to stay here, you follow the rules. Not just that, you BECOME part of the community by acting like a part of it.

Rather than touting unproven claims that invite flames continually, even after an Admin tells you to remove the claim from your signature or produce a timeslip, you come to realize that maybe it'* not a good idea. Repeated problems are a sure way to find the door swinging toward'* your arse.

In addition, the other party involved in the issue was REPEATEDLY told by more than one Moderator to get the signature within the new requirements or lose it. I was told about it after the umpteenth PM, so I simply deleted the signature and PM'd JL about it. He took it as a personal attack. Funny, I COULD have taken away his right to a signature entirely, and chose not to. What did he do? Bitched in public, turned my Administrative action into an apparent personal attack, and put his 'violation' signature right back in his profile.

Bye-bye.

Now back on topic, what is everyone'* impressions and feelings on the new NOTICE? Too harsh, not harsh enough?

I have spent alot of time lurking around reading old posts. Posts that go way back before I even became a member.
I think that you and the powers that be, have hit it right on the nail. You guys(Admins, Mods, Site Owner) put up with so much bs, that no one takes the time to say thank you, and would rather walk all over you. So, I agree, put the hammer down and start enforcing more topic sensitive rules.

I do give credit to alot of people at the same time because I have seen a decrease of locked threads in the "On The Road & At The Track" section for example. Everyone is starting to pitch in and we are starting to "police" ourselves before someone has to take action. That'* the way it should be.
Thank you.

Looks to be "just right" really. No doubt you conferred with others on it, so would expect nothing less than "just right". Suppose that folks that have an unsuppressible ego are going to try and start a flame war no matter what, but someone will take care of them when they do

Your appreciation and true understanding of the club, together with the owner'* vision and the assitance of your cohorts have made this club what it is!
