Does the phpBB software allow for a java script to be created somewhere on the top left or right of the forum index page?
I have seen a java script area on other forums that provide basic information about the next latest and greatest new information, like the next meet, or vendor sales, or notices etc.
It could also act as a direct link to that particular thread in any forum. In order to have a post seen in this java update a member would have to clear it with an admin or mod.
Is this a good idea? yay or nay?

I have not found that option yet ( mind you haven't looked very hard) for it. I know that the invision board software does have the calendar option so there is a place at the bottom of the screen for upcoming events. Also in the personal info section it asks for you date of birth so when it is your birthday it will be displayed on the main screen with your age.
Sorry Will and Rat I don't think the calenday goes that far back or can count age that high.
J/K. I feel older than you guys lately, and don't know why, ask Rat he will confirm it.

I like the idea 89BonnieSE89. If we can't do a little thing on top how about just a whole page that will have a calendar feature on it? If we do it that way it could all be done in simple HTML format with links and all. It could just be a link up by the media, links, about this site, etc.. sections. How about that?

If talking about the Java Script though, Mike is right.

It'* easy to use, quick to update--someone emails me their event info, I can have it posted within 5 minutes of reading it.

I like the calendar idea too folks. I was also thinking we don't need a java thing. We could provide an area reserved at the top left of the index page that has a link to any event. Hmmm, but then again it could be overkill. Regional events are usually posted in the Regional forums...
OK, let roll with the calendar idea
