Hmm...mine doesnt sound anywhere near that. In fact I hear mostly rumble from the exaust (stock) at WOT or even hard accelration. I do hear more of an intake hiss at WOT. I don't think I ever hear the "whine" of the SC. Maybe when I put the 3.4 on it the higher pitch will come through the exhaust drone.
No. Yours wouldn't sound like that unless you had an open cone filter and dumped your stock air box.
For the sound value, more than the 10 hp gain, alone. The whine is entoxicating.

Or you could be cheap and just gut (dremel the crap out of it) your stock airbox. It will give you whine once you get all the crap out of it. I am currently gutting the airbox in the SSEi, and it is rediculous what they do to it. At one point there is a plastic piece screwed inside the airbox to prevent air from going to that part of the airbox. I understand that air doesn't need to go to that part of the airbox because it doesn't lead to anything, but there is no reason to put a cover over it with 2 screws, its not like there is anything there they need to protect. That costs GM more money, I am very suprised they did it. Needless to say, removing it was the first step I took in gutting the airbox. (Besides removing the airbox from the car) Now I just have to finish gutting it.

They make them so restrictive to keep down noise emissions.

I like! What is your 0-60 time? What is the hp of your car now? I wish I was in the car listening to the whine, man thats a lovely sound, make my whine sound like a mouse.

Don't know my new times yet. Gtech is on the way, but I've also got an ignition problem with my car. I'm a tad low on get up and go.
