Thanks for the replies. I was assuming the traction issue and was looking for the opinions like you mentioned.
I've driven everything in the snow and almost prefer rear wheel drive for the fun factor.
Think I heard enough that the pulley doesn't merely give you too much power to hook up under slippery conditions if you stay off the throttle enough. (Is that possible?

(George is such a wordsmith :P )What I meant is that if you live in an area were they salt the roads in winter, then even on dry days you'll find limited traction for your cold induced horsepower gain. With salt dust and snow tires I have no trouble roasting them all the way up to highway speeds...they don't last long using them like that :?

If your traction control works, you'll be ok. My SSEi has no Traction control any more, and I don't care to fix it, so it'* not the winter driver it used to be. I'll drive the 95 on the really bad days.
