I changed the stock SC coupler on my 93 Bonneville recently with a ZZPerformance coupler because it was noisy at idle speed. That problem went away, but I have a oil leak from where the nose cone meets SC housing. I used an RTV sealant last time (not high temperature or anything).

Because of one bolt, I had take off the whole supercharger instead of just the nose cone. It took me a few hours to do.

Questions:

1. Can I somehow seal the leak without taking off the SC or the nose cone? Would some additive help?
2. Is it possible to take off the nose cone without taking the whole SC off on the 93?
3. What sealent should I use (and how)? I don't want a leak again.

No, there is no additive to fix this.
Yes, you can do it w/o taking off whole supercharger, however, you have more chance of getting sc oil on engine parts because even if you drain sc oil some will probably still remain in nose cone and as soon as you break those bolts loose it will leak out. Just make sure you drain as much oil as poss then have a heavy duty towel under nosecone area upon dissambly. Those bolts are pretty tight if your torqued them properly. By the way when you did the procedure how tight did you make the nosecone bolts because they are supposed to be 20ft/ lbs. which translates to 240 in/ lbs depending on the type of torque wrench you use. This may be the problem. If not and you have to go through with the whole process I used the RTV hi temp red silicone gasket maker bu "Permatex" local parts store. The manufacture recommends "Loctite #510".

that loctite can be purchased at the dealer. At this point, you may want to stick with OEM stuff.

Don't add ANYTHING to that oil. Baby that sucker. Spoil it. Talk dirty to it. And feed it right.

BTW, has anyone taken off the nose cone without taking the SC off, on the 93? There is one bolt basically behind the alternator bracket that I just couldn't get to. I couldn't fit any socket (with the ratchet head), and because of the way plastic on the nose cone is molded, I couldn't put a wrench (regular, crow'* foot) either.

I'LL have to go outside and look. Give me a couple hrs!
