Is my SC toast?
I am looking at my SC after removing it yesterday. The inside casing, where the rotors spin, is scored radially by the rotors. Can anyone comment on whether this is normal or what they saw when opening their SC? My thoughts are that it shouldn't be like this. Thanks, and I'm sure I'll have more ?'* coming!

Mine looked the same, looked a lot better after getting acid dip but was still scored. at the thrust those propellers are going the smallest debris could cause it. Another thing I could think of is if the bearings would be going bad or are bad it would cause more play in the propeller allowing it score the surface. Although my propellors didnt look scored.

I ended up calling Magnuson, a reputable supplier of quality rebuild SC'*, to ask about this issue. They said it was normal to show this type of wear. Do any of you know if the bearings in the snout are sealed or not?

forgot to answer the other questions...the rotors themselves seem to be in ok shape. They are discolored as expected, but don't appear to be scraping. Actually, none of the bearings appear to be loose when I try to move the shafts radially or perpendicular to the bearings. I feel like I need to replace them mostly b/c of the noise heard while driving (not idle)...sounded like a bolt being thrown around a tin can.

Go ahead and just do the coupler, even if the housing looks scored. Afterwards (or even right now) can you tell me how much boost you get max? Run your fingernail across the scoring....can you actually
feel them? I doubt seriously that the marks are from your rotors. It'* really not very possible.
I'd bet you produce at least 8psi of boost. Consider the marks purely cosmetic, but what I actually think they may be is marks in the carbon buildup on the rotor casing. A piece of debris will get in and 'ride around' on the rotor tip, scoring the carbon off the casing. Or a piece of carbon will break loose on a
humid day, and do the same.
