Hello,
Just wanted to know if a small amount of dust buildup on the noout of the supercharger signals any upcoming trouble. It is dark and I see it only on the very end of the snout by the pulley.

That would depend on what kind of dust it is, and why it'* sticking there. Is it belt dust? Is your nosedrive full of oil?

Most likely this is belt dust. Please post a picture to verify.

If it is belt dust, then you will want to start evalutating the pulleys.. all of them.

The oil if full, the belt has some cracking . I have new belts but my mechanic said the old belts were OK thru the winter. Could crakcing belts cause the dust? It is black and the particles are very fine. I'll post pics soon. Thanks,

Do you have a smaller pulley on the car? If so, did you go down in belt size?

If you don't have a smaller pulley, I'd look at your belt tensioner and see if it is set correctly. To do this, you'd see the "dashes" on top of the tensioner, where the other dash (on the pulley side) should line up.

With this most likely being belt dust, I would recommend looking over the entire belt path before putting a new belt on. You want to ensure a pulley hasn't gone bad and causing the problem. In that case putting on a new belt would start to shred the new belt.
